About Amanda Brock
Having spent 25 years as a lawyer qualified in Scotland, England, and Wales, and with a US law degree, Amanda spent most of her career working in-house across an array of sectors. She is best recognised as on of the UK’s leading e-commerce lawyers in the dotcom boom and over the last 15 years as a deep expert in open source software, beginning with her role as GC at Canonical where she set up and ran the legal team for 5 years.
Hanging up her legal boots in 2017, she has metamorphosed into a CEO, Board advisor, policy influencer, international keynote speaker, and author to considerable industry recognition.
Amanda has been CEO of OpenUK, the UK organisation for the business of open source software, hardware and open data – since 30 November 2019. She’s led the build of one of tech’s most forward looking and diverse organisations.
Amanda sits on a number of Boards on both a pro bono and paid basis. She also provides advisory and consulting and mentoring support on a consultancy basis.
